Competition for inward investment has never been higher, with global cities and regions offering an ever-growing retinue of subsidies and incentives to bring new companies onshore. But how do we ensure that investment doesn’t just arrive – it stays and delivers long-term impact? This session will explore how strategic planning, infrastructure, skills development, and business support can create the right conditions for sustainable investment. Drawing on examples from the North East, which is building on its strong track record for investment attraction with the £160m North East Investment Zone, the panel will explore how investment can drive regeneration, boost innovation and create high-quality jobs.
